On May 25th, in Castelo Branco, Portugal, Gonçalo Lourenço and the ESART singers will perform my new a capella work for SATB choir, The Clod and the Pebble. If it wasn’t for Gonçalo, this piece would be languishing on my book shelf, half-finished and never heard. Thanks you, Gonçalo and the ESART ensemble. I can’t wait for the recording!
I’m so excited! On Friday, Feb. 5, @ 7:30 P.M., the Phil Kramer Recital Series is presenting an evening of my music. Featured on the recital are two of my multi-media operas, Portrait-TV-Man, and the world premiere of my collaboration with John Grimmett, titled Nothing in the Nothingness. I have worked so hard on these pieces, and as the days count down can’t wait to share them with the world.
In two concerts, Feb 21, at Anadolu University State Conservatory, in Nevsehir, Turkey and on March 15, at Théâtre d’Orléans, in Orléans, France, the award winning Turkish pianist, Toros Can will perform my piano and tape work Dinosaur. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this, and how much I have enjoyed working with Toros. .
On Wednesday, January 14th, 2015, Jerry Hou and the Rice Symphony performed my orchestra composition, Grand Variations. Completed in 2012, this work is a theme and variations for large orchestra and features the flugelhorn. The performance included two other outstanding new works: Impact by Charles Halka and Dream Collage by Joungbum Lee. It was really a great experience, and I am so thankful to the Shepherd School and everybody else who helped make it possible. Look for recording in the coming weeks.
